I can't believe I am officially in WASHINGTON D.C.!!!
My first day in D.C. :)
- Took the red eye flight from LAX with my two roommates - Michelle and Jamie
- Transferred flights in Pittsburgh (which is in Pennsylvania, if you did not know)
- CVS Shopping
- Went to Potbelly (mmm...tasty)
- Rode the Metro!
- Pillow shopping for Jamie at Metro Center
- Safeway Shopping
- NAP TIME!
Okay, so I have officially been in D.C. for a week now, and I really love the city. Living here for a whole 10 weeks sounds so surreal. I know that when I go back home to California, it's going to be very weird ... something I won't like.
I appreciate all the finer things in life when I'm walking around in D.C. I think what makes me dislike my hometown and Irvine too is the fact that nothing is within walking distance. Everything in D.C. is walking distance from each other. Really, the only reason people take the metro is because it'll save around 10 minutes of your commute time. I enjoy walking everywhere! Also, another observation is all the buildings are so beautiful; D.C. definitely does a good job combining both detailed architecture with modern twists. The weather for now is very bearable, but I know that will change soon especially in July and August.
Another concept that is very new to me is taking a nap during the middle of the day! I love it! I finally understand how my freshmen now sophomore residents survived all of last year, while I went nuts with the lack of sleep I was getting.
That's all for now.
Stay tuned.
As life in our nation's capital continues.

Fate
I am still in the midst of finals, the last set of finals for my 3rd year. Then as Jess Ly would put it I am going to become a "big bad senior". As stated previously, I think for a majority of this quarter I have been looking forward to the end of this year and to summer. As the year ends, I have obviously been very reminiscent of everything that I have accomplished and the changes I have made in not only myself but in others.
The point of this entry was to state that I believe that for every person I have met in my life, there is a reason behind it. There are so many people in my life I love; I love their company, their knowledge, and simply just their being. Of course, like any other human, I too have people I do dislike or am annoyed by, but I appreciate because I guess then I can improve on how I judge people.
I truly enjoy meeting new people, and getting to know them. I love to find out about the different experiences other people have gone through within their lifetime, their histories. I definitely think that when I meet new people, this process encourages me to become a better person. Too bad that there are so many people in this world who are so hateful and selfish towards others.
I have appreciated my experience in Mesa Court thus far. Not only have my residents from this year inspired me, but catching up with my residents from last year is so touching. I really enjoy seeing them just as much as my residents from Puente 2007-2008. I love all my Peenuts. Having this feeling is truly an amazing way to end my 3rd year.
Delia, maximize life.
Carpe Diem.

Bittersweet.
It's around 4am right now. I have been going to sleep around 6am for the past few days, not because I cannot fall asleep from insomnia, but because I have been so busy. I like to take things day by day, but these last few days have been a whirlwind blur.
I'm not sure how to feel right now because there are so many emotions going through me all at once. I had a taste of what I am going through right now around this time last year, when all RAs who were seniors were graduating. It's a little different this year, since I am a RA, but I am not graduating yet either.
I truly think that being a RA during my 3rd year was a great experience. However, I definitely am not going through what other graduating RA seniors are experiencing. I am sad to finally be leaving Mesa Court and not living there during my senior year and not living with 66 amazing freshmen, but at the same time I am so ready for the adventures of living off campus in an apartment, cooking for myself and with awesome roommates, and will have the opportunity to spend time with my residents next year. Hence, bittersweet. When I think of things that are bittersweet, I always think of like 74% Cacao dark chocolate, just shows how much of a chocolate I really am. :)

I really did appreciate this experience of being a RA because of my freshmen residents. Each of them are amazing people, and to be able to be part of this process of watching them grow throughout the year, reinforces how much change they will make within their lifetimes. I love Puente 2008-2009, my Peenut babies. It's a year I will never forget because of my residents and the RA staff team. I am definitely blessed to even have the opportunity to work with these fantastic people. I am so sad as closing just keeps continually creeping on me, I am truly in denial that this year is already over. But, for every good thing comes an ending.
Prepare yourself for new experiences and memories.
The end is so near... :/

Babies
Oh man...
I love seeing babies, they're so adorable! They are so innocent, still have so much to learn, and are always curious about life. I love it! I am obviously no longer a baby, but it gives me joy when I see staff members who work at UCI bringing their kids around. I think that babies make people so happy because they see a new life, a new beginning for this baby; babies make people think back to their childhood. Oh babies. We all look back and wish that we could start our lives over again (at least to some extent) with the knowledge we have gained living life.
Today, one of my professors, Beckmann, sent out an email saying that he had to push office hours because his little baby girl is sick at daycare. I just find this precious because he always talks about his three kids and how they are crazyyy with so much energy. Personally, I think Beckmann needs kids who are crazy because it fits his personality, a young, hip professor with a touch of nerdy-ness in him. HAHA. Hopefully I will still love him as much as I do now after the midterm and final. Yikes.

So little time...
I thought this title would be appropriate seeing that the half way point of spring quarter is today! Time has definitely flown by at 35468432164 mph. I feel like this "time flying by" issue happens every year (because it actually does!). The older you get the more responsibilities you receive, the less time you have in your life for yourself.
I also say time flies because today is also Obama's 100th day. There is still a surreal feeling about having Obama as the President, I think I am still stunned that we have our very first black male president. I was thinking how fast his first terms is going to end, with a blink of an eye the 2012 presidential elections will begin. I am definitely in awe for his confidence and achievements. Go Obama.
I am going to miss my residents. I had become very indifferent and to some extent bitter about being a RA at the end of last quarter and the beginning of this quarter. BUT, alas, reality has finally hit me in the face telling me that I have around 4 1/2 weeks left with them, for them to be at my fingertips, run around the hall at midnight, for them to yell Mama D, Delicious, Delia at all levels, etc. I'm going to miss them. Talking about our farewell Puente Banquet makes me very sad, the end of a long year is always bittersweet, but saying goodbye to what you have seen grown is tough. I always knew from Day 1 ever since I met my residents I was going to cry at the end of the year, truthfully talking about the banquet with the committee of residents brings tears to my eyes. I know this sounds sappy, but too bad it is the truth. If you know me, I'm not one to hold in my tears very well.
I learned a lot more about myself through this experience - about the different pressures I can handle, what and who really pisses me off, how I can truly affect others, and so forth. I must say without my residents, who knows how my life would have changed.
4 1/2 weeks, here we go.
Make the most of it and create the memories!
I'm excited.

Bonkers
For some reason I had a lot of energy today - I was bouncing all over the walls. So, the idea of me being the Duty Coordinator and stuck in my room is a really hard notion right now. All my energy is bottled up within the two tiny confines of my room. I was thinking about how I could possibly have so much energy, and it might be because I have gotten more sleep than usual and didn't go to the ARC for 3 days or so...
So, with all this energy I resorted to some online surfing of pretty floral designs. I really love and enjoy the colors that the florist used in this pieces. It's the best of both my worlds - life filled with bright lights and colors meeting up and mingling with mother nature. There are the oranges, yellows, lime greens, and fuchsias, all so simple, yet creating something so endearing and beautiful. I love it!
Ahh.. simply b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l. I hope that someday I can make someone as happy as these flowers make me with something I create. Pure bliss. Looking at these pictures to some degree takes me out of reality, now that I think about it, my entries allow me to dream about the possibilities of what I could still do with my life.
I'm actually really scared about the future for now... The future is something that is known yet unknown. People definitely have their plans about what they want their future and life to become, but we never know the specific situations we have to go through, and I think this is what scares me the most. I fear failing in life and the unknown, which may explain why I like to plan events rather than rely on spontaneity. How my life will change within the next year or two scares me because this is the time when I really have to face reality. I'm sure I'll have more entries about my future, until next time.
Adieu. <3

Livin' Life. Simply happy.
I feel that one of the distinctive traits I have is that I smile and laugh a lot. I am very loud about it, and sometimes that can be what I am known for.. :) So, for the past few entries I sound like I'm a miserable wreck in Irvine, just floating by in life, but that is seriously NOT the case. Everyone has their off days and moments; it is just convenient for me to write in my blog because it is my own little world - my own bubble, in which I do not care if people judge me or not for my own thoughts and life experiences. My blog makes me happy and smile.
Life ALWAYS has its good and and bad moment, I know it sounds cliche but it is simply the truth. Anywho..I digress. This year, I started to question whether or not I really wanted to go into the field of law. I have always had an interest in politics and law since the 11th grade, but something shifted this year. I think a lot of my friends are going through the similar situation, especially several Career Center peers. Who knew, it would be this group, all of us so motivated and driven for our different career goals to be confused a year later; this is what happens when the Career Center is no longer a constant in your life.
Moving along. Although I'm not sure if I still want to pursue a JD and actually go to law school or graduate school, I have something I am passionate about, and brings me happiness all at the same time. While online, I ran into this picture posted by photographer Jerry Yoon. I love the little details that the planner put into this event, and the use of colors. I'm not sure if it is genetic, but every since I was in high school, I have loved flowers and that passion has come back in full force this month. I say it might be genetic because for a certain period, my dad was a gardener. He loves flowers and plants in general, and I love when my dad explains to me the different types of flowers when we go to Home Depot or Lowes in his Korean accent. Oh how I love my appa. :)
Until another time. Ahn-young.
Still breathing. Thankgoodness.
